I am sure most people would know by now of the recent incident on Nguyen Tuong Van, the drug trafficker who was caught by Singapore for trafficking 400g of heroin. The case is causing an uproar both in Australia and Singapore as Australia doesn't want Singapore to hang their citizen.

There were a lot of write-ins into the Straits Times, and i am especially angry on what some readers have wrote. For one thing, every country has our own rules and laws, it would be absurd and insulting to us if we do not stand by our laws and allow other people to sway our laws. Some naysayers even want to try and use economic ties to threaten us. Should we show mercy to a criminal who has no regard for our law and other people's life?

Indeed, as a lot of people say their families would be shattered and heart broken. It is such a weak reason for god's sake. We should show compassion for his family but not to him. He is not the only one who is being hanged for such crime and he would not be the last one. I dunno how other people feel, i just feel we are not going to let other people tell us how to run a country. We know what is best for Singapore and we are going to do things our own way. If we are really to let him off the hook, are we going to face an opening of the floodgate where other countries would just plead for their own drug traffickers??

I think a lot of people have a lot fo growing up to do. Think of the repercussions. Come on, the world is already filled with threat of terrorism and those bird flu what nots. Please don't try and add another dimension to the existing problems.
