A new week. And i shall blog about the feelings that i have after a few weeks here. And i found that some of my local friends read my blog as well! Oh right!

After hanging out with the AIESEC-ers who are university students and comparing with how our university students in Singapore, i really have a lot of feelings. I really have to say that we are really a fortunate bunch of people in Singapore. Things seem a bit too easy for us in Singapore. We seem to just be contented with being a student and doing well enough in studies to graduate and jobs are pretty easy to find if we are not too picky.

Guys here are pretty like part time students and full time working adult. It is not so much about the money because i heard university fees are quite cheap over here. But i think it is because they want to equip themselves with useful and practical skills, knowing that their tertiary education is not that good. I see a desire in them to excel and to work around the restrictions that their university education is having.

Perhaps we are too lucky. Perhaps we have things too easy. As a result, i feel we dun like their desire burning in us.

I feel the same when i went to the local university this afternoon. My immediate reaction was that my life as a student in NTU was too good. For those who still complain NTU looks like a grey factory and stuck in the middle of a forest and lousy lecture halls, you should really take a look over here. I am both glad and grateful that i had a chance to visit the local university, it made me feel so grateful with what i had for the last 3 years as a student.

Now i think those who complained about NTU or any thing regarding Singapore are just too narrow-minded. Obviously they haven't seen the world.

Another thing that evokes my feelings is that there are many old ladies selling flowers on the streets. Too many of them. And you guys should know i have a soft spot for old ladies.

Probably they have no choice but to sell flowers for a living. That's life. I guess some people will get left behind when the economy and world is moving too fast for them to catch up. But i dun feel good whenever i see them on the street, especially during the evening or when it is raining. The cold and the rain is no joke. And they have to stand under the elements of the weather.

So i decide to buy flowers from them. Maybe one of them, once or twice a week. Maybe i can't change their life by making theirs better. I can perhaps help them go home 5 minutes earlier by spending a few litas
